Mark Gleeson and
Claire Rogister volunteered with the Nepali N.G.O. 'HOPE
and HOME' in November 2007. Their placement at the
N.C.W.S.S. orphanage opened their eyes to the poverty and constant
struggle the 25 children living here have to endure, and felt it was
their responsibility to help raise funds to begin to make a durable
change.
With the
help of Rabyn Aryal (Director of
HOPE and
HOME ),
they started a partnership and created the Irish-Nepali non profit
organisation Didi and Dai.
The name
Didi and Dai is Nepali and translates to big Sister and Brother.
We hope that by working together, and with your help and support, we can
show these children they have big brothers and sisters all over the
world willing to help them and not forget about them.
Vision: Every child has a right to good shelter, hygiene, food
and education whatever country they are born in. Every child should
enjoy a childhood where they feel safe, looked after and where they are
given the opportunities and tools to become strong and independent
adults.
Mission: Didi and Dai is dedicated to work pro-actively to
ensure the N.C.W.S.S. orphanage be provided with the following:
Basic
needs such as clean drinking water, food, hygiene, medical care
Access to
Education and Vocational training
Safe and
homely environment
We are
committed to:
work
with Nepali partners to ensure all donations are spent responsibly
and efficiently
Work in
co-ordination with government bodies for the welfare of children
