Employ a Tutor/Minder
Currently there are
only 2 staff looking after 25 children. It is imperative that another
person be employed to tutor and help the children with their homework,
and to care for them.
Buy a Generator
There are constant power shortages in Nepal, ranging from 8 hrs per week
in the monsoon and early winter seasons, to up to 42 hrs per week in the
spring and summer.
The
children are given candles to do their homework and to walk around the
house, which is very unsafe.
A
generator will provide more safety and bring more comfort.
Build a New Toilets
At
present there are two "out houses" used as toilets that are basically
just holes in the ground. They are unhygienic and as they are outside,
the children are afraid to use them at night.
We
aim to build two tiled indoor toilet rooms with wash hand basins.
Rehousing
The
building the children call home is ( despite some renovation work from
donations) a dilapidated building that is damp, has some windows
missing, and generally in a bad state of repair. It also has no garden
or area for the children to play in. We want to rehouse the children in
a warm homely place with adequate washing and toilet facilities, more
rooms, study area, good quality beds and with some safe, secure land for
them to play in.
These houses are available in the area but the NWCSS cannot afford to
pay the higher rent.
We
are looking for sponsors or donors who will help materialise this
project.
