During our time at the N.W.C.S.S. orphanage, we have had opportunity to
observe the children's daily routine, from waking up in the morning and
walking to school,
through to going to bed at night. This allowed us to see what essential
items are often lacking ,as well as the areas money can be spent on to
improve the children's
daily lives.
We are
dedicated to working in the following four areas: diet, hygiene and
medical care, clothing and schooling.
Improve Children's diet
We are
committed to providing the orphanage with food items they cannot afford.
We deliver milk, fruits and
vegetables every two days, meat once a week and other items such as
bread, wheat, sugar, salt, etc when needed.
We have
an account with a local drinking water supplier to deliver 20ltrs daily
to the orphanage (their tap water isn't safe to drink, even after
filtration).
Contribute to children's
hygiene and medical care
When we
first arrived at the orphanage, the children's general hygiene was
extremely poor as they only washed once a week and rarely brushed their
teeth.
Thanks to donations, we
built two shower rooms with wash hand basins and hot water. We gave a
toiletry bag to each child containing soap, toothbrush, etc, as well as
a towel. This has induced them to wash more frequently and look after
their physical appearances. We are providing the orphanage when supply
runs out.
We would like to add more
items such as hair treatment for nits, full first aid medical kit and
other expensive items with your support.
The orphanage keeps us
informed of any medical or dental treatment which they need our support
with and we endeavor to provide it.
Provide adequate
clothing.
Depending
on the seasons, the children need some specific clothing items, such as
rain coats for the monsoon season, or hats, jumpers, coats and gloves
for the cold
winters.
Help with school related
items
The
school provides books, bags, and shirts (included in the yearly school
fee).
We help support the ongoing costs of school trousers, shoes and
stationery.
We are working with a local
Nepali person who voluntarily visits the orphanage on a regular basis,
ensuring that all of the above needs are met.
